The idea for HOLDING COURT literally came to me on a walk along the beach one morning. That week I had been asked if I’d consider being an ambassador for a fitness web site, and whilst pondering that idea and thinking about what on earth I was going to do that afternoon in a coaching clinic I had to run, it hit me…………… Maybe I should A. develop my own web site and B. make it one that will help all of the coaches that had woken up that morning with the same problem……… what on earth will we include in our training session this time????? So many coaches over the 13 years that I’ve been playing at an elite level have approached me for ideas in regards to training drills and skills, a lot of those simply wanting some direction and advice on what to do and how to do it. Whilst there seemed to be coaching resources available there just never seemed to be an easy way to put it all together without having to flick through page after page of text, write it all down and then try to 'guesstimate' roughly how long it would all take to complete. A problem I have had to face many times myself (way too many times) The kinds of coaches I’ve had discussions with too have been quite amazing. Coaches of school teams, club teams and even representative teams often find themselves running out of ideas and new ways of exploring and developing the game. Granted, most of the time, I’m useless to them but I’m hoping with the amount of information on HOLDING COURT that will be a thing of the past. With the ability to mix and match drills every week there’s hundreds of potential training sessions just waiting to be created. And, never fear...............as new skills and drills are incorporated into the components of the game every 6 months you’ll never run out of things to do! You will also find an array of tips and quotes from the experts, a ‘what’s on’ section and numerous links to your favourite netball websites. The Holding Court website is primarily targeted at age groups 11 years old and above. For more information on netball for younger players please contact your State Netball Association. They, along with State Associations country wide are presenting a fantastic Netball Australia initiative called Net Set Go for netballer’s aged 5-10 years of age.
